We are currently welcoming submissions from current students who would be interested in enhancing their circus practice with the challenge of a public performance.
The “Spring Show 2014” will be held on April 19th, 2:30pm and will be the first of four performances for the 2014 season. (Other performances will be held August 30, September 27, and November 30.) You are welcome to apply now for the fall series; audition notices will be posted approximately two months before each show.
*Open to current students and staff from all VCS locations.
*Must be available for one show rehearsal on April 12th (2-5pm) at VCS New West (River Market at New Westminster Quay), and for show day on April 19 (2-4pm).
*Each performance is presented “Cabaret-Style” (solo and/or small group numbers) and will be approximately 30 mins in total.
*This is a volunteer opportunity. The performance series is provided at no charge to the public.
Performer Guidelines for “Spring Show 2014”
*Ages 8-12: we will have 4 group performance opportunities during this show; two on aerial silks, one trampoline, and one plate spinning (routines will be taught at the rehearsal).
*Performers ages 12+ (including adults) may prepare a solo or small group act to perform during the show.
*This is a great opportunity for students and performers working on acts currently who would like to “test” their act in front of a live audience.
*Each performer is responsible for providing their own music, costume, and props (but are welcome to use props currently available as part of their class at VCS).
*Performers will be able to utilize all regular equipment at VCS New West (trapeze, silks, trampoline, etc)

Meet Adam Menzies, our newest addition to the Vancouver Circus School!
Adam Menzies is a trampoline, gymnastics, and contemporary circus arts instructor/choreographer. He has been coaching for 15 years while continuing to perform in various shows around the world. Adam is a 3-time world medalist in the sport of trampoline gymnastics, winning a gold and silver medal at the 2003 World Championships.
He has toured with world-renowned Cirque du Soleil, Cavalia, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Le Grande Cirque, and regularly performs with members of the United States Olympic Ski and Snowboard team. In 2011, Adam was invited to perform on “The Ellen Degeneres Show”, where he was later named as one of her favorite guests of all-time. Adam has taught master clinics for coaching trampoline gymnastics with the United States Trampoline Association. In addition, he created a thriving program at Dance Centers of Orlando, in which dancers were taught new and creative ways to incorporate acrobatic elements into their performance.
With an eye on technique, and safety being his number one priority, Adam strongly encourages creativity and exploration in his classes. He has a strong belief that each student has an individuality to showcase and will work with each student to highlight their strengths.
The Vancouver Circus School is excited to welcome back Adam! He will be coaching tumbling, trampoline, and acrobalance classes for various ages and levels beginning in February 2014; for the full schedule click here.
